REMONDIS Medison processes and sterilizes medical waste under strictly controlled conditions. Once treated, the waste is classified as non-hazardous and transported to an incineration plant in Austria for final disposal, making our facility a transitional location in the overall waste management process.
The collected waste is transported using vehicles specialized for waste transport — vans and trucks equipped with built-in cooling chambers and all necessary certifications, ensuring that the waste is handled in accordance with ADR regulations for the transport of hazardous materials. During transport, all waste is placed in hermetically sealed containers and kept at controlled temperatures. Upon arrival, it is immediately processed in an autoclave.
For the treatment of medical waste, the company uses an autoclave and steam sterilization technology, which is a standard method in many European countries. In Slovenia, for example, an identical facility is used, while in Germany, over 60% of facilities rely on the same technology. All functional parts of the equipment are regularly maintained in accordance with technological advancements and certified in compliance with all legal standards.
The treatment process includes no steps that generate harmful emissions — steam sterilization technology involves neither incineration nor chemical treatment, thus eliminating any negative environmental or health impacts.
